Organizing Tips Put clothes out to know what is clean, and avoid rushing the next morning. Make lunches; filling can be prepared in advance for bread the next morning. Check school and work agendas and prepare for what is needed the next day. Have school papers signed, and put school money in labeled envelope(s) in knapsacks. School bags, purses and briefcases are packed and put by the door. Have office work or items needed for the car put in a bag and at the door ready to go. Set table for morning breakfast. Wake up a 1/2-hour earlier. Make evening calls to business answering machines - getting a head start to the next day. Get dinner ready in advance for the next night. Select one day/night per week to grocery shop. Shop in off- hours, not on Saturday. Keep a running list on fridge door of needed items to buy; person to use the last of item is to write the item(s) on the list. Fill car with gas when needed, not in desperation or as a detour on your way to work. Do not be driven by your phone. When you are busy, let the answering machine pick up. Put a note on the inside of front door of what not to forget to take from the house. Allocate a central message location and communication note book and have everyone use it. Plug in cell phone to recharge for the next day. Define a specific location (ex: a wicker basket in the living room) for items needing repair, old batteries, dry cleaning & mending. |
